1.) So a filmmaker and a photographer had a baby…and the rest was history. On your website, you documented it in a film. Could you share your birth story with us?

Getting pregnant was hard for us so we conceived using IVF. We never planned on sharing any of the personal footage we shot of the process, but now that we have our son, it’s an integral part of the journey we never want to forget. After I gave birth, there were some signs that things were not right with my health. Exactly one month after our son was born, I suffered from a life threatening postpartum hemorrhage and got rushed into emergency surgery. Despite my doctor telling me I was okay multiple times, I trusted my gut and got myself to the hospital just in the nick of time. If I can give one piece of advice to new moms: it’s to always trust your instincts; I’m so glad I did. Due to the complications I had, I hit pause on my breastfeeding journey for six weeks. Thankfully, we were able to pick up right where we left off six weeks later, and today we are all happy and healthy!

2.) Tell us about Little Laughter Films. How did you come up with the idea?

We came up with the idea for Little Laughter Films pretty organically right after our son was born. Due to Covid-19 lockdowns, none of our friends and family could meet our little guy! We started editing our iPhone footage into short videos and posting them online.

Our friends and family felt like they were getting a chance to watch him grow up and it was at that point we had the idea to create Little Laughter Films. As professional photographers and videographers, our entire careers have been about celebrating milestones and creating family heirlooms, and this just seemed like a natural progression.

Though we’re professionals, most of our everyday moments are captured with our smartphones just like everyone else. We want to help people unlock the potential of the powerful camera in their pocket and create something amazing with their home videos.

3.) As modern parents, we all have 735,345,869 photos. What’s the best way to organize digital photos?

I could go on and on about the importance of organizing your images and give you a thousand different approaches but my TOP tip would be to make “Folders” and use the Favorites button. Not organizing your digital photos is a problem that will keep getting worse over time if not managed!  Right now there are 31,281 photos on my phone. Imagine what a mess it would be if I printed them all and threw them on the floor and kept adding to that pile month after month, year after year!  Now imagine I have all of them neatly organized and cataloged into albums and tucked onto shelves in alphabetical order. It would be so much easier to find what I was looking for! That’s what folders and the Favorites button can do for you.

4.) How do you juggle your mom life with work life?

A long time ago someone told me that if I want to have a work life balance, I need to recognize that my to-do list will never be empty. I’ve always been a great multi-tasker, and I’m huge into workflow, efficiency and outsourcing. I try to segment my days working in the mornings and spending the afternoons with my husband, son and 2 dogs. I accept any help I can get and in order to not go crazy, I make sure to give myself grace. That baby food maker I bought is collecting dust, laundry is piled high, dishes are in the sink and I’m almost always in my pajamas. But I have a happy baby, a career I am proud of, and a new and exciting business.

5.) What’s your favorite song lyric? Why?

I have 2 favorite song lyrics:

“Decide what to be and go be it “ by The Avett Brothers – I have it hanging on my wall as a reminder you can be and do anything you decide.

“Some people feel the rain, others just get wet “ – Bob Marley.  My dad shared this with me a long time ago and it reminds me to make the best of every situation I’m handed and dance even in the worst of storms.
