I See You, Mama

Poem:  Renée Melizza (@dear_darling_xo)

I see you mama ⠀
Baby in one arm ⠀
Washing basket in the other.⠀

Collecting toys with your feet ⠀
And Stirring a pot⠀
With your one arm free.⠀

Tired as hell ⠀
But doing your best ⠀
Will they eat? Will they sleep? ⠀
There’s No way to tell.⠀

I see you mama⠀
Pushing the pram down the corridor ⠀
Just in the hope ⠀
That they’ll sleep some more. ⠀

I see you mama ⠀
baby carrier on around the house,⠀
They’re finally asleep⠀
So you’re as quiet as a mouse.⠀

All you want is some time for me,⠀
Some time to sit,⠀
Some time to read.⠀

Then the day passes ⠀
You didn’t get that space ⠀
But you know it’s all worth it ⠀
When you see that little face.⠀

Maybe tomorrow will be different, ⠀
I might get more time, ⠀
You never know how it’ll go ⠀
On this very wild ride.⠀

To the mums after me, ⠀
It can be hard & days can be slow,⠀
It slowly gets easier,⠀
This, I’m told so.⠀

I’m slowly getting there ⠀
Finding my feet, ⠀
Knowing what to expect ⠀
And Navigating the new ‘me’.⠀

To The mums before me,⠀
Some days I need motivation. ⠀
Is it normal? I think it is.⠀
Do you know, you’re my inspiration?!!⠀
