Tell me about MOMENT Consulting.

Moment Consulting (MOM-ENTrepreneur) provides coaching services and resources to mom entrepreneurs in the early stages of business development – meaning, someone who is pre-launch, ready to re-brand, or just feeling stuck when it comes to their business growth. With the dual responsibilities of growing a business, and running a household, moms barely have enough time to finish a hot cup of coffee let alone learn the ins and outs of building a business! That’s where I come in! I take the guesswork out of your next steps, teach you how to grow and sustain your business IRL and on social media, and efficiently and effectively turn your business into a profitable, buzz-worthy brands.

What led you to create it?

Women are starting a record number of businesses per year, but time constraints and limited entrepreneurial experience often hinder more moms from turning early-stage ideas into profitable brands. As a mother and entrepreneur, I understand the challenges that come with carving out time, resources, and energy to build a business and be a mom. But I’m also a firm believer in the mental, emotional and physical benefits that come from having a life and a career outside of your family. Having my businesses has helped me so much during these early years of motherhood, and while it’s not always an easy balance, it’s a worthwhile juggle. I want mothers to feel empowered to act on a business idea if that’s something they’re passionate about, and to have the resources, confidence, and guidance to build the business, and life, they want.

What are you most passionate about?

Supporting, acknowledging, and normalizing the mental health challenges that come with motherhood. It still blows my mind how many hoops I had to jump through to get a postpartum depression diagnoses, and help thereafter. It’s too common to be so overlooked. One of the reasons I love working with mom entrepreneurs is because I understand the benefits of having something to focus on outside of family that encourages a woman to use her mind and creativity in ways that keep her feeling energized, connected and motivated.

What is your best single piece of advice for mom entrepreneurs?

Take yourself seriously as a business owner and take entrepreneurship seriously as an occupation. If it’s not a hobby, don’t treat it like one. Carve out work hours and provide yourself the time to focus on your growth and success just like you would if you were working for someone else who depended on you.

You are a very stylish person. How does your sense of style guide your work?

Why, thank you! Given that branding and marketing have such strong visual components, I use my own sense of style, and my instincts to pull out my client’s sense of style, to guide the direction of our branding exercises. We all have different elements to our style but with branding, you need to focus on one area and stay consistent. It’s fun to pull out visuals from fashion, art, fonts, and patterns that reflect all the areas of our style and then reign it in to create a clear and consistent brand image.

What’s your favorite song lyric? Why?

In the present moment, my family’s theme song throughout this pandemic has been “Orphans” by Coldplay. My kids love the beat for a dance party and I love the lyrics. They speak to me right now, for obvious reasons! For better or worse, this song will always remind me of this crazy time and I love having the lyrics on repeat. We actually change them to “play with my friends” with a 3 and 5 year old!

“I want to know when I can go

Back and get drunk with my friends

I want to know when I can go

Back and be young again”
